international relations and biorobotics: sant’anna school, inpeco and fondazione DON CARLO GNOCCHI representatives visit peking university to promote and enhance global partnership

Sant’Anna School, Fondazione Don Carlo Gnocchi and Inpeco representatives visit Peking University, a leading institution of higher education in China since its establishment.

The visit to the Peking University provided a historic opportunity for Italy-China relations and Sant’Anna School, Fondazione Don Carlo Gnocchi together with Inpeco to build a global strategic cooperation for the 21st Century. This visit featured a new learning and research partnership enabling academics and industry to work together on issues of international significance.

Led by Nicola Vitiello and Simona Crea, researchers of Sant’Anna School Institute of Biorobotics at the Wearable Robotics Lab, the delegation consisted of Maria Chiara Carrozza, as the scientific director of Don Carlo Gnocchi, Andrea Mauri, Stefano Bordegnoni, Davide Pedrazzini and Gigi Minola from the Inpeco Company.

As a longer-term perspective, the two higher education institutions and the industry representatives support the ambitious and comprehensive agreement to achieve the goals of research, innovation and modern industrial development. Current joint projects already underway include research on wearable robotics, healthcare, and science and technology.

“The partnership with Peking University – said Nicola Vitiello – aims to explore joint research and cooperation to tackle global challenges including the use of Artificial Intelligence in rehabilitation, early diagnosis, innovation, prevention and treatment of chronic conditions and disabilities”.
“Over the next few years – said Simona Crea – we will increase the opportunities for study, particularly between young researchers and cooperation with the intent of providing competitive advantage”.

A few weeks ago, Inpeco (a company offering high tech systems that guarantee traceability, safety and efficiency during the diagnostic process to integrate data and help eliminate any possibility of human error) and Sant’Anan School established a new Advanced Laboratory Automation in Pontedera.

“Over the next few years – said Maria Chiara Carrozza – Sant’Anna and Peking University will address specific research areas and clinical issues associated with the neuro-rehabilitation. We work to help patients regain the ability to perform activities of daily living. Our wearable robotic devices will allow patients to engage in physical therapy sessions required to enhance neural plasticity and brain recovery”.
